More good news on the jobs front as we enter Q3So, here we are in Q3 2011 and once again all signs point to positive news within the Irish jobs market.

Despite all of the ongoing issues within the Eurozone, August has seen a steady increase in the numbers of jobs being advertised and a massive increase on this time last year.

Recent employment monitors have shown an almost 50% increase in new professional job vacancies based on this time last year. The numbers speak for themselves, 5283 professional jobs advertised at the end of July 2010 as compared to 8250 professional jobs advertised end July 2011. This increase is due to continue on into Q4 and into 2012 and in particular within the technology sector.

We have seen some of the larger tech companies announce major hiring initiatives such as BSB announcing the creation of 120 new positions to support its business growth in Europe.

A recent study by Mazars has also recorded that 66% of technology companies in Ireland plan to hire staff this year. Refreshingly it is not just the big companies that are hiring. We have seen a dramatic increase in hiring within small to medium sized business.

On the "professionals-seeking-jobs" front though there has been a dip in the past few months with the amount of professionals seeking employment down by almost 24% on last year's figure. This could be down to the usual seasonal volatility as well as some increased cautiousness around the possibility of the US entering a double dip recession. It could also be down to the fact that simply more people are now in full time employment!

All in all good news!! Most sectors are outperforming last year, we have seen consistent hiring within the financial and professional services sector as well as a massive increase in hiring within the technology sector.
