Racing at Leopardstown today featuring live concert from The Strypes

The first of seven race card goes to post at 5.15pm with the Racecourse of the Year Handicap and there will be a live concert from The Strypes after racing.

The GOING is currently Good and Patrons are urged to arrive early in order to avoid traffic with doors opening at 3.45pm at the Foxrock track.

The Group 3 Ballyroan Stakes (7.25pm) is the highlight of the card. The Ballyroan Stakes has been a good race for favourites in recent years and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Bondi Beach is sure to be popular with the punters. O’Brien’s high class stayer has won both starts since running in the Emirates Melbourne Cup last year and will look to make it a hat-trick for the season. He was one of the leading fancies for the Ascot Gold Cup but missed the race at the last moment. His biggest threat could be Ulster Derby winner Stellar Mass who was third to Harzand in the Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen will be trying to deny Aidan O’Brien from winning the Ballyroan Stakes for a fourth consecutive year and Weld is represented by Almela, a daughter of Sea The Stars. Eddie Lynam’s Agnes Stewart is also declared to run and the improving Lustrous Light will be attempting to add to his impressive Fairyhouse victory last time out, while the field is completed by O’Brien’s other runner, Shogun.

The Godolphin Student Initiative Handicap (6.50pm) also features Aidan O’Brien’s Bellewstown winner Romanesque while Park Row bids to follow up on his Dundalk win when contesting the Strypes Apprentice Handicap (8.00pm).
