Have Your Say on the Draft Climate Action Plan 2024-2029

DĂșn Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has today published its draft Climate Action Plan 2024-2029 and is now inviting the public to have their say.

An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Denis O’Callaghan, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:

“Climate Change has no boundaries; we must come together with stakeholders in our County and surrounding local authorities to collaborate on our approach to climate change that is inclusive, meaningful and accessible for all.”

The draft Plan sets out the actions that dlr will take to prepare the County, its residents, workers, and visitors for the known impacts of climate change such as flooding, sea level rise, extreme weather events and drought.

Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council added:

“This forward-thinking draft plan focuses on key cross cutting and interrelated themes which provide a framework to deliver the transition towards a more climate resilient County. This draft Plan is essential to meeting our climate commitments at a local, national and EU level.”

The draft Climate Action Plan, the Strategic Environmental Assessment Environmental Report and Appropriate Assessment Natura Impact Report, will be on display from Wednesday, 20th of September, to Friday, 3rd of November, at the following locations:

  • At Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, A96 K6C9, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 09:00am to 4:30pm on Fridays.
  • Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Dundrum Office Park, Main Street, Dundrum, D14 YY00. Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) from 9:30am -12:30pm & 1:30pm – 4:30pm.
  • All branches of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown libraries during library opening hours.

Public information sessions in respect of the draft Climate Action Plan will be held at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, 03/10/23 from 3.00pm - 7.00pm: The Parish Pastoral Centre, Holy Cross Church, Main Street, Dundrum, D14 K820.
  • Tuesday, 10/10/23 from 3.00pm - 7.00pm: The Assembly Hall, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, A96 K6C9.
  • Tuesday, 17/10/23 from 4.00pm - 7.00pm: The Round Room, The Mansion House, Dawson St, Dublin 2.

The preparation of a Climate Action Plan by the Council is a requirement of Section 16 of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021.
