“I am keen for Cubic Telecom to cooperate with Guangdong partners, it is an ideal place to do business with innovative internet companies such as Cubic”, said Mr. Hu Chunhua, Member of Political Bureau, Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC), and concurrently Secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee.

CEO of Cubic Telecom, Mr. Barry Napier said, “we are delighted to welcome such a senior delegation to our headquarters to demonstrate our technology and share our future growth plans for China.  To have endorsement from Mr. Hu Chunhua is invaluable to us as we continue to forge relationships with Chinese Mobile Operators and future IoT customers.

About Guangdong

Guangdong is a province on the South China Sea whose economic boom began in the early 1980s and has since spread to neighbouring provinces, and also attracted considerable inward migration.

Guangdong has been one of China’s economic powerhouses since the “reform and opening up” policy was launched nearly four decades ago, and its gross domestic output has ranked first among all provinces for 28 consecutive years. Its 2016 GDP increased 7.5% (national average was 6.7%).  Guangdong has the highest total GDP among all Chinese provincial-level divisions.  According to Chinese statistics, Guangdong’s GDP is almost of US$1.2 trillion, making its economy roughly the same size as Russia. If it was a country it would be the 12th biggest economy in the world. This is a region which has huge economic potential and which has an economy which is complimentary to Ireland’s.

The province is now one of the richest in China, with more billionaires than anywhere else in mainland China. It has three of China’s six Special Economic Zones: Shenzhen, Shantou and Zhuhai. Guangdong’s foreign trade accounts for more than a quarter of China’s US$2.56 trillion foreign trade or roughly US$683 billion.
