First acts announced for Bulmers Live at Leopardstown 2016

Following the success of the last eight years and record numbers with 42,000 attendees in 2015, Bulmers Live at Leopardstown is set to roll out another series of superb racing mixed with some of the best live music for the festival season...

The Boomtown Rats (August 11), The Strypes (August 4) and Booka Brass Band (July 21) are the first three acts announced to play on the Racecourse Stage this summer.

Once famously described as ‘licentious, festering reprobates’ and ‘leprous anti-establishment scumbags’ and banned from playing in their home country, it’s difficult to overestimate the shock and awe The Boomtown Rats inspired in late 70s Ireland. Playing the last night of the series, their fast, loud, furious music will be an explosive finale to Bulmers Live at Leopardstown 2016.

Cavan rockers, The Strypes have been an extraordinary Irish success story since they burst onto the airwaves in 2013. Telling the world that their record is the best he's heard all year at the Grammys last week, Alice Cooper's endorsement is a strong indicator this is a gig not to be missed!

Having collaborated with the likes of Jerry Fish and Lisa Hannigan and described as 'Ireland's only New Orleans style eight-piece brass band', Booka Brass Band have become firm festival favourites over the last couple of years with an infectious carnival vibe.

As always, the performances will be preceded by a top class card of horse racing, a wide selection of hospitality options available for everyone from the great value ‘Summer Bundle’  to the premium ‘Summer Party’.

Following eight years of attracting some of the biggest names of Irish and international talent, Bulmers Live at Leopardstown again delivers on its reputation for being a fantastic night out for individuals, groups and friends, with a huge variety of on-site entertainment and all for the amazing ticket price of only €18!

We feel that we brought Bulmers Live at Leopardstown to a new level in 2015,” says Ciaran Conroy, Leopardstown Racecourse Commercial Manager, "and we hope to continue success this summer. Once again we look forward to bringing a great mix of music to Leopardstown over the eight shows, with something for everyone combined with a great night out at the races."
